Smell the Roses
To say I am disappointed in mankind lately is an understatement. I am at the point I don’t even want to turn on the news or read conversation threads on Facebook. How did we come down to this? This hate, like cancer, is killing everything in its path. Very sad days indeed.
But, there are some little lights shining through here and there. You just have to spot them in all this darkness. I search for them every morning, just so I can remain positive for the day. Some of my lights are my friends, my boyfriend, my job, my hobbies in Second Life, and of course, good music and movies. Trust me, it is not an easy thing to remain positive, but I refuse to sink in this ocean of madness.
I am bi-racial in real life. My father is black and my mom is white. I was born in the 70s’ so that interracial relationship was still taboo. My maternal grandmother never bothered with me and my brother, I was constantly teased and beat up in elementary school, I was laughed at and excluded from activities in high school, and the list goes on and on. I do not believe that these experiences are an excuse to go off on someone, calling them racist or whatever words are used these days. I am not a person who endorses violence. I do not believe in it and do not believe it resolves anything. Violence only brings violence, as we can see nowadays.
I do hope with all my heart and soul that soon, people will calm down and realize this hate towards one another will lead us nowhere. Actually, it will lead somewhere: sadness, resentment, guilt. So for those of you who agree all this must stop, let us try to bring some positive into this negative, some light into this darkness. Let us stop for a moment and smell the roses. I know I will try my best to do so.

I absolutely adore this hat and plan on sporting it during weddings or themed costume parties!
